You've spoken, "Kuching is better"

Dear friends,
You have spoken! Kuching is better than Miri. Let me offer my humble opinion why it is so. If you were to ask me, I would honestly think that Miri is a more livable city, but... I hazard to guess that most voters are from Kuching and hence, nothing beats your own HOMETOWN, not even the best cities in the whole wide world. So you have it...

See you next time,
SL

A small poll for lovely cities

Dear Friends,
How'd life treating you lately in a foreign land? As with all things in life, some of you would have achieved many goals that you set out to achieve and some are still work-in-progress. I hope all of you will perservere and achieve greatness in life.

Maybe we should do a small survey. How about comparing Kuching and Miri? Many factors will come into play in our considerations, but lets just say, "I like Kuching better than Miri". Lets vote.

See you again friends,
SL

Top 10 List, Miri

Dear Friends,

I am not a gourmet aficionado. I am just a salaried man, trying to make ends meet, but have to eat outside all the times as I am away from my family. Many of you and I are trying to ‘eat to live’. But we prefer something that is ‘cheap, fresh and big in size’ After all, we must enjoy our food bah. Not so easy to please (who says you can please humans!!). One of the criteria that I use to compile the list is that I have eaten at these places for at least three times. Anyway, let us get on with the first-cut list in Miri (not in order of merit).

1) Hopoh Café – Kueh Chap/Chicken Curry Rice
2) Hong Kong Duck, Boulevard – Roasted Meat
3) Good Taste, Pujut 5 – Asam Curry Head
4) Meng Chai Café, Jln Merbau
5) Muara Café – Nasi Lalapan
6) Ten Mile Bak Kut Teh
7) Twin Star, Pelita
8) Wan Sin Café, Miri Waterfront
9) Wooden Shed, Pujut 2 behind Sesco – Fried Spring Chicken
10) WZT Café – Kueh Chap

Pls leave a comment and feel free to criticize my list left, right and centre.

Selamat Hari Keamatan & Gawai Dayak

Dear Friends,

I wish all our Friends "SELAMAT HARI KEAMATAN & GAWAI DAYAK". Let us think back to previous year and learn from it and improve ourselves and our lots.

And let us also takea moment to pray for our fellow humankinds who suffer greatly in the recent catastrophic natural disasters, namely the China Earthquake and Myanmar Cyclone. At a time like this, we sometimes wonder, how could Almighty let this utter devastations happen to His own children, His own creation? I know I am digressing into potentially contentious religious issue but I would like to offer this humble opinion of myself: Almighty has His own plan for us, His children. There is no doubt in this.

Happy Holidays. From, SL

Happy Worker's Day

Dear HAFM Friends,

Most of us will be going back tomorrow for the Worker's Day holiday and will also take one day leave 2/5/08. So, I wish you all Happy Holidays and try to spend quality (and quantity) time with your family and loved ones. God bless you all.

What is the origin of Worker's Day? And is it still relevant today? Anyone wish to comment? Anyway, we are glad it is a holiday, aren't we? And don't forget to thank the government (even if for today) as Malaysians are a fortunate lot with the most public holidays in the world?? Can someone verify this?

May08 airfare promotion

Dear HAFH Friends,

I booked one return flight to Kuching just now. I found AirAsia Miri-Kuching schedule has turned friendly to new time 1740hrs, but then you might still have to come back on Sundays as return Kuching-Miri at approx 7.00pm. Well, I also found that Mas flight from Kuching-Miri on Mondays at 7.00am is not that expensive at RM165. So, in May (current promotion), you might think of taking AirAsia for Miri-Kuching and then Mas for Kuching-Miri.

Or how about bus service at RM80 one-way? I tried that before and it took 14 hrs and I have to say it wasn't too bad as you could actually slept (if you tried) with a sore neck afterward (so bring along a neck rest/support).

Hello from KK

Dear HAFH Friends,

How's life this week? And I know many of you are going back today, Friday evening. I am also going back and am very exciting to be home again after two weeks. Well, I miss my wife and my kids.

A friend commented 'how about supper?' For friends lucky enough to work for the oil majors with plump salary and equally fat allowances, well you can have left, right and centre supper and maybe throw in brunch also. We have to make do with three daily meals until...

See you guys at the airport later. Cheers...

Welcome to TDM

WELCOME TO ThreeDailyMealsTDM,

We wish to serve as the focal point for friends who seek fortunes away from home, Home Away From Home (HAFM). For example, we can share upcoming public holidays and we can all rush and book for flights back home, in case some of us forget. How about that??

Thanks for visiting!
